It has not been an easy year for many of us. Art however gives us hope and structure for the future. We would like to share with you some important facts for the 3rd edition of Autostrada Biennale, which we are intensively preparing together with our two curators Övül Ö. Durmusoglu and Joanna Warsza. The next edition will not be postponed but will still take place despite, and within the current circumstances. We are expanding this edition to 3 cities: Prizren, Prishtina, and Peja. Prizren will stay the core of the Biennale, while additional venues, installations, and interventions will also happen in Prishtina and Peja.

The dates for the 3rd Autostrada Biennale are 17 July - 11 September 2021.

Autostrada Biennale started from its own locality in Prizren, Kosovo in 2014 (first edition 2017) built on a feeling of lacking, the need for more cultural exchange in the region, and an opening up to the world. It established itself as a connecting point, and a route on the map of the West Balkans. The pandemic demanded us to rethink the Biennale model, and for this we cannot be more enthusiastic to extend our activities to three cities. In this way, we will further work with our legacy: very local, and yet very connected.
'The next Autostrada Biennale will be based on need-to-need infrastructure model, a form of blind-date between parallel interests, desires and hopes' write Övül Ö. Durmusoglu and Joanna Warsza. 'We hope to reinforce the role of the Biennale as a way of building a soft infrastructure in Kosovo, supporting the community as well as the translocal solidarity in times of double isolation.'

The next Autostrada Biennale will be presented both in an analogue and the digital form of soft infrastructures with art, performances, conversation pieces, readings, sculptures, and other forms of art and life in the summer of 2021.

See you next year to share the creativity and inspiring visions of artists and curators from Kosovo, the region and beyond. Meantime we wish you peaceful holidays and a surprising, exciting 2021.

The third edition of the Autostrada Biennale and the entire Pre-Biennale program are supported by the Swiss Cooperation and Development Office in Prishtina, the European Cultural Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Municipality of Prizren and the Municipality of Prishtina.
