Ewa Rebeka Służyńska aka E-R-S (PL) and Ronny Szillo (DE) are two artists of the new residency exchange collaboration that takes place in October and November 2016 in the partner institutions, the WRO Art Center in Wrocław and the C. Rockefeller Center for the Contemporary Arts in Dresden.
Ewa Rebeka Służyńska, particularly interested in hybrid forms of expression, combining drawing, painting and embroidery elements with installation, plans to turn the C. Rockefeller Center into a road through heaven, hell and purgatory. She is The starting point for her activities will be the Zwinger collection of medieval and early Renaissance art , and use of symbols in the old art mixed with the contemporary pop babble.
In the meantime in Wrocław Ronny Szillo will elaborate a kind of post-digital land art project, a series of outdoor interventions combining techno waste with handcrafted ceramics. Since his residency in Columbus, Ohio (USA) in 2015, he has been researching extensively on the topic of fossilization of media and the production of 3D objects out of it. Now he is going to further develop this idea during the residency at the WRO Art Center.
