The new program GREEN ISLAND 2014, created by Claudia Zanfi /Atelier del Paesaggio, is a special project for urban gardens, that will start at the Isola-Garibaldi Station during the Milan Design Week, April 8th–13th 2014.

GREEN ISLAND. ‘LANDSCAPING: Dutch Design for a new city Garden’ is a project dedicated to urban green area and city gardens. The program consists of a series of innovative and sustainable urban actions made by young Dutch designers and artists and it will be introduced by the first photographic exhibition dedicated to the well known landscape designer Piet Oudolf (creator of the High Line in NYC). 'Landscaping' suggests new urban lifestyles: the aim is to propose a new concept of social life, through a contemporary design of parks, gardens and public spaces. With the improvement of exhibitions, installations and biketours, GREEN ISLAND offers an incentive to redesign the urban landscape on a better human scale.

In the articulate project there will also be an initiative dedicated to urban biodiversity, unifying design and eco-systems: an original project will be proposed by Bee Collective, a group of young Dutch beekeepers and designers looking for new ways to promote beekeeping in the urban environments.

The project is part of the circuit URBAN GARDENS connected with FAO and Expo 2015 Milan, as well as a wide network of institutional and private partners such as:

Creative Industries Fund NL; Dutch Embassy in Rome; General Consulate of the Netherlands, Milan; Comune of Milan; Regione Lombardia; Museo Alessi; Centostazioni - Garibaldi Train Station; Polidesign; Spazio Lombardini22; Bee Collective; Studio Floris Wubben; Studio Piet Oudolf; (others); art galleries, local designer and architecture studios, as well as important MEDIA partners: Artribune; Cityproject; Connecting the Dots; Gardenia; Giardinaggio; Living; Paysage.
