From September 21st until November 17th 2013 the chair of art history at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and the Jenaer Kunstverein e. V. will present the contemporary art exhibition 'BrandSchutz // Mentalitäten der Intoleranz' (Fire Protection // Mentalities of Intolerance). The project deals with the actual phenomenon of growing tendencies of mentalities of intolerance in the middle of society. The presented works by well-established and younger international artists negotiate the problem of intolerance with differentiated, subtle, ironic or provocative means and in all kinds of media. The exhibition takes place at ten public and semi-public spaces in the center of Jena. Furthermore the project 'BrandSchutz' is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue, a series of thematic panel discussions, a film program as well as a final academic symposium.
