BEIRUT ART FAIR, EDITION 2013
an evolving art fair,
emerging artists and a wider horizon

The BEIRUT ART FAIR has become the leading showcase of ME.NA.SA. creativity on the regional and international art scene. This places it in a unique position to meet the collector's need for a single sourcewhich provides up-to-date information on the artists, trends, galleries, publications, and institutions which make up this fast-evolving part of the art world.

This region which includes all countries from Morocco to Indonesia is composed of many cultures. It is made of firmly established artists and rising stars of the art market.
The creative energy and powerful presence of the ME.NA.SA artists on the international scene is not only revealed by sales at auction but also through the numerous exhibitions in museums, private institutions and the different international art biennals.

The city of Beirut is the heart of this dynamic. The visitor will realize this throughout this 4th BEIRUT ART FAIR that will be held from the 19th till the 22nd of september 2013 in the Beirut International Exhibition Leisure center (BIEL).
'This event, launched in 2010, contributed in reinforcing, with the help of other cultural authorities, the interest of the collectors and art professional of the world in the Lebanese artistic scene' said Laure d'Hauteville, founder and manager of the BEIRUT ART FAIR.

46 galleries coming from 14 different countries are participating in this new edition of the BEIRUT ART FAIR.

This year the BEIRUT ART FAIR, along with the SOLIDERE competition is launching an open-air tour, BEIRUT ART WEEK#1, with monumental works which will be displayed in the streets of downtown as well as in its shops. From the 18th till the 24th of September, the streets of Beirut will be a contemporary art space. BEIRUT ART WEEK is investing in new territories to conquer a different public.

BEIRUT ART FAIR allows us to discover new artists that are inspired by their heritage and the upheaval of their history. Their work is created far from the agitation of the globalization, the constant flux of fashion and the star system.

This creative out-pouring is represented by the diversity of mediums used by the artists and the renewal of the themes they work on. We are witnessing the institution of specific esthetic codes. We are not even close to a 'new Orientalism 21st century style'!

In 2013, the fair expands its vision and presents a South East Asia Pavilion. This way, it allows the public to discover the creative potential of South East Asia through the works of emerging artists on the internationalmarket.
Highlighting its expanded vision on art and its current issues, the BEIRUT ART FAIR 2013 consists of 3 major poles:
- The « BLC DESIGN PLATFORM », a place of discovery for a new generation of designers.
- The 'Sculptures and Installations' space
- 'Generation War', a unique exhibition that combines the works of 6 photographer reporters, who were in their twenties when the war began.

BEIRUT ART FAIR places Beirut as the cultural and intellectual capital of the Arab World and as a hub of contemporary art at the crossroads of the East and the West.

BEIRUT ART FAIR is under the Patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Lebanese Republic, the General Michel SLEIMAN.
