ExLab presents a series of fascinating newly commissioned contemporary artworks in response to the 'linear laboratory' of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site - a 95-mile section of stunning coastline between Dorset and East Devon. ExLab is a Big Picture project – a network of established arts organisations collaborating together across Dorset to present projects at various locations along the coast between Hive Beach and Bournemouth, as well as new work at Sherborne which relates to the journey between inland and the coast.

Artists Simon Callery, Mat Chivers, Zachary Eastwood-Bloom, Simon Ryder and creative studio Proboscis, were selected from over 200 submissions to work with scientists to reveal new narratives about the places, the people and the landscape of Dorset.

It's not too late to visit the works – they run until September 9th – which is also the date of our final coach tour. Scheduled in partnership with the b-side Festival, the journey begins in Bournemouth and travels along the coast to Durlston (Zachary Eastwood-Bloom); Spyway Barn (Mat Chivers); then Coastwatch at Portland Bill (Simon Ryder); before dropping down into Portland to view various b-side installations.

The 2012 delivery of ExLab is being managed by Producer Carolyn Black, working alongside the Big Picture membership organisations and delivery partners, including National Trust, Durlston Country Park and Dorset County Council.

ExLab is part of the London 2012 Festival, the spectacular 12-week nationwide celebration running from 21 June until 9 September bringing together leading artists from across the world with the very best from the UK.
