Join us for a weekend full of Dutch innovative showcases at the crossroads of digital media, arts and technology. With presentatons on Transmedia & The Future of Storytelling and on Social Cities of Tomorrow. Free entrance on both days, and free tracking cookies for all visitors.

Location World Design Capital Helsinki Pavillion, Ullanlinnankatu 2-4 (next to the Design Museum).

SATURDAY 21 JULY:  EXPERIENCE THE FUTURE OF STORYTELLING


Ongoing programme from 12:00 to 20:00 hrs with screenings, best practice showcases and presentations about transmedia.

15:00 -17:00 Presentations
Meet 'Flying Dutchman' Jarno Smeets / Floris Kaayk (Humanbirdwings.net), and see how a man learned to fly and shared his experiences with a growing online audience.
VPRO Broadcasting Organization will show spectacular datavisualisation from the
documentary The Netherlands from Above.
Submarine Channel will tell you how they turn games into art and graphic novels into interactive motion comics.

19:00 - 20:00
Film Screening: Forget the Film, Watch the Titles.
Submarine Channel will show some of the most impressive and influential title sequences. With an introduction by Remco Vlaanderen.


SUNDAY 22 JULY: SOCIAL CITIES OF TOMORROW

Ongoing programme from 12:00 to 18:00 hrs with screenings, best practice showcases and presentations about how we can make use of new media to make our cities more social, rather than just more hi-tech.

15:00 -17:00 Presentations
Three Dutch (urban) designers will present their projects that aim to engage the public more deeply with their surroundings and bring urban public space to life.

- Michiel de Lange (The Mobile City) on digital media technologies and its implications for urban design.
- Game designer Kars Alfrink (Hubbub) on PLAY Pilots and social games for public space.
- Alper Çugun (Hack de Overheid) on open data, app contests and urban life.

with Demos Helsinki and with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from The Netherlands
