DREAMS OF POWER
In the midst of all this
it is equally hard to choose the words,
as to bear the burden of thought.

History | Architecture | Failure | Inevitability

The monumental architecture of the imperial castle is at the same time a symbol of history and the mark of Germanic power in Poland, and a sign – monument of undeniable strength and domination. It is a monument to the unfulfilled dream of power. The exhibition Dreams of Power relates to history and power, as well as to the vision of victory unaccomplished.

In the design of the Dreams of Power, exemplification and the feeling of power means precisely penetration and subjugation, just as in Foucault's terminal stage. Nevertheless, Dreams of Power do not achieve a complete fulfilment – the confrontation with the emptiness of the cursed architecture remains. Architecture which is at once a spirit and a materialization of those dreams which it will be difficult to ever erase from memory or history. The net of ubiquitous might and power permeates the walls of the castle. Defeat, destiny and unfulfilled dream of power create a setting for the exhibition. In the exhibition, the architecture is not merely a setting anymore, in fact the reverse takes place – the works of the artists become a setting for the architecture of the castle, which is omnipresent.
