The Fondazione Galleria Civica-Centro di Ricerca sulla Contemporaneità in Trento will host from 10 to 19 September 2010 the model of the 'TRIDENTUM' installation thanks to which Stefano Cagol has won the competition upon invitation for the artistic characterization of the new A22 gate in Trento.

The permanent monumental installation by which Stefano Cagol has won, is titled 'TRIDENTUM' i.e. the Roman name of the town which synthesizes in a conceptual way the three hills that have given origin to this name, and that, framed by higher mountains, still identify the town. It is a new monument of the town and its territory that has its roots over thousands of years ago to project Trento into the future.

Numbers: the artwork will be made in 2011, its total base surface is of 150 square meters, it is made of three complex pyramidal polyhedric structures, 32 sides, and 16 tons of steel.

The competition, besides the making of the monument awarded to Stefano Cagol, has given an added first prize to Massimo Scolari (the artist listed as second), internationally reknown Italy-based artist, architect and designer.

The call for artwork was sent out by A22 Autostrada del Brennero SpA in March 2010 and it aims to the creation and the making of an artwork able to characterize in an artistic way on the territory the new Trento South motorway junction, i.e. the roundabout in front of the new motorway tollbooth that will act as the main access way to the city of Trento.
The city of Trento is the main town of the Trentino province, in the heart of the Dolomites, and A22 is the Brenner Pass motorway, one of the main motorways that connects Europe and the Mediterranean, leading from Verona towards Austria and Germany.
