From the 21st of August to the 21st of November 2010 Fabrica will be at the Guadagni Showroom in Venice to present Shifting Perspective, an exhibition of the new collections of objects for the house created by the young designers of the Benetton group's communication research center.

Down Side Up is an encounter between experimentation and consumption, where design challenges shapes, volume perception and directions to create objects with constantly varying functions and interpretations. And so by adding a few essential accessories like legs, handles, hooks or hands, and by choosing a precise orientation, a simple basic wood unit is transformed into something new with a unique personality. The heart of each unit is a hole, a functional element which also gives the unit an aesthetic value. Therefore the effectiveness of each article lies in its versatility of use and its potential for creating customised modular systems.

The Riot Act is a collection of 12 decorative articles. The collection takes its name from the 1713 Act of the British Parliament which gave local authorities the right to order the dispersal of groups of 12 or more people deemed unlawfully assembled. Each of the 12 designers from Fabrica was given a ceramic cylinder to transform it in form and function through modifications, processes or additions of new elements.

Both the collections will be available for purchase at the Guadagni Showroom.

FABRICA is a communication research centre financed by the Benetton Group. It was created in 1994 with the aim of combining culture with industry and offering young people from around the world an opportunity for creative growth and multicultural interchange. Fabrica is based in Treviso, in a complex restored and enlarged by Tadao Ando. Fabrica invites young artists/designers to its centre, offering them a one-year study grant and providing them with a professional training opportunity and a wealth of resources and relations. The young resident artists develop cultural and social communication projects in the areas of design, visual communication, photography, interaction, video, music and publishing under the guidance of experts.

GUADAGNI SHOWROOM was founded in Venice towards the end of the Seventies. In 2007 it began collaborating in different fields of activity, with the best Italian and European companies. Guadagni Showroom is a space dedicated to the home environment, matching technology with quality, planning and designing to fully answer to the clients' needs.
