Catalogue raisonné, volumes I - IV
Jochen Gerz (*1940 in Berlin) is an internationally renowned contemporary German artist. His artworks in public spaces have radically changed the relationship between the work of art and the viewer, by allowing the public to experience authorship and participate in the creative process, contributing to the aesthetics of a democracy in search of its cultural dimension.
Presently, Gerz is engaged in the realization of the Square of the European Promise (Bochum 2007-2011, Germany), 2-3 Streets – an exhibition of cities in the Ruhr area (Duisburg, Dortmund, Mülheim an der Ruhr 2007-2010, Germany), 63 Years Later (Graz and Styria 2008-2010, Austria), and amaptocare (Dublin 2005-2014, Ireland).
Volumes III and IV complete the catalogue raisonné. Edited by Renate Petzinger and Volker Rattemeyer, they will be published in Autumn 2010 by Verlag für Moderne Kunst Nuremberg.
Volume III includes the following groups of works: Visual Poetry (1967 – 1972), French Wall (1968 – 1975), Single Works (1969 – 1999), Fuji Yama Series (1979), Manuscripts (1976 – 1981), Video Works (1969 – 2005) and Editions (1963 – 2008).
Volume IV features the second part of the Works in Public Space (1968 – 2010), the Public Authorship works since the year 2000. It also includes an exhaustive biography and bibliography, as well as an alphabetical list of all the art works (almost 900 entries).
The new volumes III and IV, together with the already published Volumes I and II, (Performances, Installations, Works in Public Space 1, Photo/Texts and Mixed Media Photography from 1968 – 1999) are now available for subscription.
