Expodium Orbits #2

MIND THE BOLLOCKS!
07-05-2010 - 11-06-2010
Opening 7 May 17.00-20.00

Marc Bijl | Knowbotic Research | Atelier van Lieshout | Andy Wauman

'Art isn't supposed to touch on anything that has to do with morality, the view on life and responsibility,'
says Anna Tilroe disapproving in the most recent issue of Metropolis M. Nowadays, the views held in the arts and especially in art criticism don't extend beyond the art world. This accounts for the fact that the moral issues outside of the art world are not addressed, to paraphrase Tilroe.

Notwithstanding, this theme is of great importance in Expodium's research trajectory. Therefore, the focus of this show will be political activism. The result: Expodium Orbits #2, MIND THE BOLLOCKS!

Debating THE BOLLOCKS!

May 21st 17.00-20.00

In combination with this exhibition, we'll organize a debate with amongst others Anna Tilroe and Jonas Staal. To what extend can art still be sincerely politically engaged? And what role can a non-profit art institute have in this matter?

The Orbits are a new feature this year. Expodium Orbits is a series of four exhibitions in the Expodium exhibition space. These exhibitions will highlight some topics relating to this year's main theme, thus providing the selected artists with input.

Artist Events

At the artist events, the artists of the main research trajectory present their results so far and will experiment with their first ideas in preparation of the interventions in November:

14 May: Julien Grossmann and Ruth Sacks.
28 May: Sachi Miyachi, Chris Meighan and Philippe Van Wolputte.
4 June: Francesca Grilli and Pilvi Takala.

This project is made possible with the help of:
