SEASON 4 IS NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS!
(If you are not a musician please join as a curator & read the end of this letter!)

For this series of works Matthias Fritsch created several clips that last as long as an average music video. 'Music from the Masses' is intended for distribution on video portals such as YouTube as well as for exhibitions in museums and galleries. For 5 years 10 silent clips will be produced and published for participation. The work is an open edition, and it is always possible to add new compositions and variations. This generic model of recycling and generating new material resembles the 'Youtube-Reality', where material is in constant flux.

All four videos are available to musicians, composers, sound designers and artists over which they can produce their own soundlayer. There are no restrictions of style or genre. In return
for participating in the project participants may use the High Definition video for all of their own commercial and non-commercial purposes for free. (under the conditions of (cc) by Matthias Fritsch for the image layer in their credits) creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

'Music from the Masses' will reach a big audience. Some Videos have already received clickrates up to 80000 on YouTube!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROJECT?

Download the silent video on this website:
www.hfg-karlsruhe.de/~mfritsch/mftm/mftm-open-call.html
After producing your own soundtrack please send it via email, link or CD to matthias@subrealic.net and it will be published on YouTube and included in installations and loop-programs of exhibitions, festivals and lectures. The order of entry determines the order of publication on YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/subrealic).

Besides the soundtrack – please send the following information:

title of soundtrack:
genre:
name of artist:
type of copyright © or creative commons (cc):
country & place of living:
occupation:
education:
month & year of birth:
website:
additional information (if necessary):

IF YOU DON'T MAKE MUSIC YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN THE PROJECT AS A CURATOR!

Since there are already more than 70 clips published on YouTube and many more will follow, it has become difficult to watch them all. The next layer of the project is the creation of compilations, for instance of your favorite pieces or other criteria. It's easy to create a playlist in youtube and share your personal perspective with other people. Your playlist might become a criteria for a future exhibition of this project and most likely will help others to navigate within the cloud of many videos this project has already created.

Besides your own personal taste you can use the demographics information of the background for each artists which is published alongside the videos.

Please send the following information:

title of playlist:
url of playlist:
description:
curator:
country & place of living:
occupation:
education:
month & year of birth:
website:
additional information (if necessary):

Please spread this call widely and participate yourself!
