Bartha Contemporary is delighted to present an exhibition of new works by Swiss artist Beat Zoderer.

The artist's second solo exhibition with the gallery entitled 'Sourceless Fields' will feature recent Eternit reliefs, sculptures as well as works on paper. Made since the artist 2008 solo-exhibition at the Museum Haus Konstruktiv in Zürich, Switzerland.

In a recent article in Art World Magazine* Paul Carey-Kent remarked: '… Beat Zoderer combines everyday office, domestic and industrial materials in ways which are full of visual and conceptual surprises, so that what might be po-faced constructivism is undermined by playfulness. From a distance his wall-based works often look like abstract paintings, but they're not ...'

Zoderer recently rediscovered Eternit, a highly versatile concrete based fibre-cement material, now available asbestos free. Often used in construction the felt-like material is ideally suited to Zoderer's intuitive creative processes. It allows him to abandon colour for Eternit's inherent sumptuous grey tone and introduces highly tactile surfaces to Zoderer's work.

The 2009 recipient of the prestigious Aargauer Kulturpreis, lives and works close to Zürich. Zoderer;s work has been the subject of numerous Museum exhibitions across Europe, most recently these include the 2009 show at Museum Langmatt in Baden and 2008 at Museum Haus Konstruktiv in Zürich. Over the past twelve months the artist has also completed a number of large-scale public and private commissions including a highly acclaimed installations at Art Unlimited – Art Basel as well as installation at the Merker-Areal Baden and for ZKB-Steinfels to name only a few.
