Insomnia can be caused by any kind of factors: a bed too soft or too hard, too much coffee, a clock's tick-tock noise… These symptoms derived from the world's first psychological diseases: anxiety and depression. A long sleepless night, what is to be done? Insomnia is a both lonesome and collective phenomena, anyone had this experience of being alone in the dark facing these empty and boring glide; you will often turn while awake, thinking and meditating on yourself, as a dissection; once in a while you will have an electric flash light breaking the night exploding in a craking noise; of course, you might find out Goethe and Bach's guesses, notice guests from the K-park planet, create a new Guiness World Record of sheeps' counting. Chronic insomnia can lead to a disorder of the nervous system, a diminution of cerebral and intellect functions, a digression to the path of life. On September 6th, 2008, 37 renown artists from Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Guangzhou suffering from these symptoms will share their 'Insomnia' experiences with you, in BizArt Art Center. The exhibition space, which has been showing experimental art for ten years, will this time present photographs by Chinese outstanding contemporary artists after their 'Insomnia' nights. Who will present the stronger symptoms? Which result will be the most raging? Whose dreams are the most impertinent? Whose nights are the most boring? Each work will invite you to participate to this convivial approach to illness from these patients' different angles.
