For over 80 years Östersund has been waiting for their own artvenue. Finally it’s here. With more than 80 contributing artists, 20 well known speakers and a conference with over 400 participants. Färgfabriken is participating and placing Östersund on the world map on the 1 to the 3 of April 2008.

After 13 years in Stockholm Färgfabriken will open up it’s second permanent site, Färgafbriken Norr in Östersund. With a brand new touch - a campaign that aims to expand the regional development and cultural driven corporate development.

The opening cermony stretches over three days with three different events wich all circels around the global questions. The convention exists and works as a hub to create the presumptions for a new world bank: thenewworldbank.com - an interactive digital platform on the internet where individuals and ideas are the new currency. During a two day long convention, including workshops and seminars. The participants will create the foundation to what will become the new worldbank, network wich provides soultions and knowledge about the urban progression that can change the world. Participating at the conventions will be, among others, Noreena Hertz, Kjell A Nordström, Malcolm McLaren, Jennifer Leonard and Bill Liao.

At the same time will the exhibition “Teleport Färgfabriken” open up. A laborythic exhibition that will, for the first time, expose the full broadness of Färgfabriken – with more than 80 contributing artists and international stars like Maurizio Cattelan, Carsten Höller, Rikrit Tiravanija and Veronica Valk. Among our national (swedish) participants are Natalie Djurberg, Ernst Billgren, Annika Larsson, Klara Lidén and many more joining us in putting Östersund on the worldmap.

Färgfabriken Norr is drawing a new map for Sweden with a regional link between Stockholm and Östersund as much as between Sweden and the rest of the world. The campaign is forward-looking and will investigate in how a city in the inland of Norrland, Östersund, can matter in a global context where humanity is gathering in bigger urban regions.
