DESTINATION UNKNOWN is a non-profit organisation that offers a working period for young artists in locations which are temporarily vacant; waiting to be reclaimed by new owners or waiting to be demolished. Artists are invited to fill these vacancies with creative site-specific ideas and interventions, reacting on the environment of the location. Destination Unknown is a nomadic organisation, which implies that it is based on another location every year. In July, August and September 2018 a number of apartments will be available as working studios for artists at Sint Teuniswijk in Venlo.
Furthermore guest speakers will be invited for lectures and conversations with the participating artists. At the end of the working period an exhibition will be organised which will be open to art professionals as well as neighbourhood residents.
Artists who graduated between 1 and 5 years are preferred to apply for this open call. Please send your portfolio, artist statement, CV and motivation or project proposal to anmeldendestinationunknown@outlook.com with in the subject line OPEN CALL DU 2018. Please mention whether you want to use the opportunity to stay overnight during the working period.
