Andrey Ustinov will be the artist-in-residence within the fifth edition of the Goethe@WRO residency program for media artists based in Germany taking place at WRO Art Center in Wroclaw, Poland.

Andrey Ustinov, born 1975 in Russia, is a graduate of the Young Artists School at the ProArte Foundation in St. Petersburg
. He continued his studies at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, where he's currently based. He often works in carefully chosen public spaces across the different media and in close interaction with the viewers.

The Goethe@WRO residency program is organized since 2012 by WRO Art Center and the Goethe-Institut Krakau, and is aimed at young and middle-aged media artists living and working in Germany. The residencies focus on creative processes, mutual exchange and meaningful interactions with the audiences and broader social environment of the host instittution.

From among 26 artists' proposals submitted to the open call, five candidates had been shortlisted by the WRO Art Center team: Thao Eder, Mandy Krebs, Michael Otto, Veronika Reichl and Andrey Ustinov. The second round of the evaluation process conducted by the representatives of the Goethe-Institute in Cracow and Munich resulted in electing Andrey Ustinov and his proposal for a conceptual performative media installation in derelict urban space titled Film Noir that will be implemented in Wroclaw during a one month residency in October 2016.
