Into Donald's head is a symbolically overloaded participative performance where the public is invited to eat the head of the Republican candidate in run for the 2016 presidential election in the United States, Donald Trump, which takes the form of a hyperrealist cake.

For Manifesta 11, Frank Perrin analyses the metamorphosis of our contemporary chaos and extends his photographic approach to underline 'the kitsch and ludicrous truth of symbols of power.'

'Into Donald's head
is a post-capitalistic ritual, a pagan celebration. The public is given the power to devour the icon of every capitalistic fantasy or cliché in the same place that gave birth to the Dada movement, at the occasion of its 100th anniversary. A century-long cycle that begins with the terror of 1916 and ends with 2016's dread,'
Frank Perrin explains.

Cabaret Voltaire is a place of culture located on Spiegelgasse Street in Zurich, that same place where Lenin once lived. The space was opened for six months during World War I from February to July 1916, and saw the emergence of Dadaïsm. The Cabaret eventually had to close its doors for nighttime disturbance as well as breach of morals.

After his Empire series (showing Kadhafi wearing Dior Homme, and Mao with a Comme des Garçons suit), Frank Perrin further interrogates and deconstructs, with Into Donald's head, the power of symbols of capitalism, which has reached its terminal, paroxysmal, and schizophrenic phase.

ABOUT FRANK PERRIN

www.frankperrin.org

Frank Perrin is a French photographer based in Paris. He has spent the last ten years working on his project Post Capitalism: « a visual and mental encyclopedia, a reasoned catalog of our constantly changing contemporary obsessions ».

Thus beauty, solitude and vanity intertwine in a strange reality that exceeds fiction, presented in an indefinite sense of 'in-between'. Frank Perrin methodically draws his photographic eye to the structuring of several independent series, such as Runway shows, Joggers or Streets. These many chapters provide the opportunity to analyze the transformations of our flashy desires. Post capitalism is a tracking shot on the founding ideas of our time.

Some of Perrin's works are in private collections in Paris, London, New York, Brussels, Milan, Athens, Miami, Palm Beach, Tokyo, and Seoul. Other pieces of his work can be found in public collections such as the FNAC in Paris or the ING Insurance collection in Amsterdam. They are exhibited in international galleries and museums such as the Centre Pompidou Metz, and the Musée Galliera in Paris. Frank Perrin is also represented by the Swiss gallery Analix Forever, with which he participates in international events such as the FIAC, Paris Photo or Art Paris at the Grand Palais.

He is also the director of the magazine Crash.
