1. Bruce High Quality Foundation University (BHQFU):
Re-Schooling* Dinner and Club Night

→ With Iheap researchers and intervenants, BHQFU faculty and students, and invited guests.

A joint dinner event with Iheap and BHQFU, followed by visual karaoke or quasi club night ('Images float like marshmallows'**), as a collaboration between the two organisations that falls somewhat into the category of BHQFU's Friday Night Events while serving for Iheap as its symbolic New York launch.

2. Central Park: LDRE (Line of Research and Experimentation) Acting Out

→ With Iheap researchers and intervenants

Iheap is dedicated to extremely dematerialised artistic approaches. Its Lines of Research and Experimentation (LDRE) are composed of topics which guide the program's research methodology. Partly based on physical training inspired by Pencak Silat martial arts of Indonesia, the goal of this 'Acting Out' LDRE is to commit surreptitious actions and form a possible 'Practice of the Outside'.

This session will be devoted to weight training and footing.


3. The School of Visual Arts (SVA) MA in Curatorial Practice:
Course / Discourse Marathon

→ At the School of Visual Arts, 136 West 21st Street, 10th Floor
→ With Iheap researchers and intervenants, Curatorial Practice students,
and Steven Henry Madoff (Chair, MA in Curatorial Practice).

The project between Iheap and SVA's MA in Curatorial Practice has no finality as an exhibition, but will exist for one evening, bringing students and lecturers, and artists and curators together, to eat and talk in tandem. The marathon discussion will be articulated around a dinner of 'topics' wherein each food course — which will have been prepared jointly by students / researchers from Iheap and SVA — will be accompanied by its proper, or indeed improper, discourse. The objective is for students / researchers to advance in their reflections on practice.

4. Columbia University's School of the Arts: Jam Session
→ On Friday, October 24, 5.30 – 8.30 pm
→ At Columbia University, West 125th Street and Broadway
→ With Iheap researchers and intervenants, Columbia MFA students, and Jon Kessler.

This exchange between Columbia University's School of the Arts and the Institut des hautes études en arts plastiques (Iheap) will manifest as a jam session in order to engage with themes of improvisation, play, and chance in a lifelike way.

Researchers and faculty will collaboratively construct instruments (in the loosest sense) from bricolage in-situ, then work to generate a score, and rules for the generation thereof, in realtime. Short talks on a variety of interrelated subjects, such as improvisation, composition and chance, will serve to punctuate the activity of scoring as dramaturgical and discursive 'frames'.

There is no predetermined outcome for the jam, although there is a hope: to lay the foundations for an anthem for Iheap.


5. The School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) at the City University of New York (CUNY): Education on the Periphery

With Iheap researchers and intervenants, SFPC students and alumni, CUNY students, organized and moderated by Michael Mandiberg.

This discussion will connect the Institut des hautes études en arts plastiques (Iheap) in Paris, and the School for Poetic Computation in New York City, both 'schools' which operate at the educational periphery. The Institute des hautes études en arts plastiques (Iheap) is a post-graduate institute for research and experimentation in art, based in Paris. The School for Poetic Computation is organized around exploring the creative and expressive nature of computational approaches to art and design. The session will consist of a series of reciprocal presentations: beginning with introductions of the history, context and mission of each program, followed by the researchers / students' articulation of their own practices and projects, and ending with a general discussion among the participants and audience about collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to learning and pedagogy in the arts and humanities.


6. Somewhere: Altérations de la Chèvre Phénomène

In this series of slight, ephemeral and non-authorized interventions developed in galleries, museums and institutions, the aim is to alter the usual perception that visitors have of such places, devoted to exhibitions and art objects. Conceived as a tool to help identify precisely how an art practice constitutes itself through its exhibition and subsequent mediatization, the Altérations de la Chèvre Phénomène leave no enduring traces behind.
