The AIA is now accepting applications for the Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program (CASP). There are two options for enrollment: Summer 2019, a one-month in-person intensive taking place in July, and Fall 2019/Spring 2020, an online program taking place from September through May with two in-person weekends in New York City.

CASP will provide you with the skills needed to:
-- Objectively and critically evaluate fine and decorative arts and household contents according to the highest standards set by The Appraisal Foundation.
-- Comply with the legal and ethical aspects of appraising as stated in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the IRS.
-- Utilize appraisal methodologies and industry-specific research skills to conduct comprehensive market analysis and to interpret market results.
-- Write well-researched and legally compliant appraisal reports.
-- Apply current and pertinent tax law to appraisals.
-- Start your own appraisal business or augment your current profession.

Enroll in CASP and take a first step to becoming a member of the Appraisers Association of America, the premier association with more than 740 members devoted to assessing the value of fine and decorative arts and personal property.
The CASP curriculum is based on appraisal practices and standards set by the congressionally authorized Appraisal Foundation, which has raised the standards for all appraisers throughout the United States.

CASP students will be taught by Certified Members of the Appraisers Association of America and professionals that specialize in conservation, insurance, and IRS regulations. Additionally, students will engage in hands-on fieldwork at selected venues in New York City, the most dynamic international art market.

Completing CASP will provide you with a certificate in Appraisal Studies from the Appraisal Institute of America, the educational foundation of the Appraisers Association of America.
