UNIDEE-University of Ideas'   format proposes an educational model based on 'other' ways of gaining experience in the meeting of critical theory, activism and artistic practice, not through subordinate relationships but rather through levels of interaction, exchanges and reciprocal interference. In 2017 the programme is based on a close examination of three macro-topics: Revolution, Desire and Mediation.

OPEN CALL FOR SPRING&SUMMER TERM
APPLY NOW

24th / 28th April, 2017
Errasmus Mundus. The Desire of Error in Revolutionary Times
Curated by Etcetera (Federico Zukerfeld & Loreto Garin Guzman), with Franco 'Bifo' Berardi

www.cittadellarte.it/unidee/activity.html?id=86

What happens after the end?
The errorist laboratory 'NO-WORK / NO-SHOP' will be focused on researching and experimenting the diverse uses of artistic actions and social imagination strategies regarding common problematics, through 'trial and error', with the intention of creating collective public interventions around the specific context of Cittadellarte and the city of Biella. This module will seek to create a 'non-consumption' space for the development of artistic experiences.
Deadline: 7thApril 2017

8th / 12th May, 2017
Proposal for Schizoanalytical Seminar II: Title Forthcoming
Curated by Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri, with Carla Bottiglieri Greil

www.cittadellarte.it/unidee/activity.html?id=87

How can desire be understood as a revolutionary force? How can it evade the mechanisms of capture which stifle it and direct it toward the destruction of worlds?
The schizo-analytic module turns the context of the week-long seminar at Cittadellarte into the set of a historical film being made in 2057, about a seminar set in the year 2017. The participants of the module, together with the mentors, will enact a seminar while documenting it as a film. The hope is that the distancing and self-awareness of our selves, our time and the conditions of making this collective seminar / film will allow a different perception of our common condition to arise.
Deadline: 21st April 2017

15th / 19th May, 2017
LudoCity. Designing a site-specific game
Curated by Riccardo Fassone and Juan Sandoval (el puente_lab), with Gabriele Ferri

www.cittadellarte.it/unidee/activity.html?id=96

The module aims to examine the game as a participative, temporary, movable device, through which the artist establishes forms of interaction with communities, opening new possible meanings and uses of the public space. The workshop will provide the participants with the tools, the knowledge and methods for designing a 'site-specific game'. During the week, there will be an introduction to the most relevant critical theories and the history of games and play, and an analysis of the different modes of game design discussing topics such as the design of urban games and pervasive games, in order to produce an analog game to be implemented in a specific area in Biella, that has been recently the subject of a study for urban transformation processes.
Deadline: 28th April 2017

5th / 9th June, 2017
Touch, Don't Dominate
Curated by Diego Del Pozo Barriuso, with Julia Morandeira Arrizabalaga

www.cittadellarte.it/unidee/activity.html?id=90

How are socially, culturally and politically emotions constructed? How can we point to the invisible mechanisms that shape the 'affective economies'? How do we produce new critical imaginaries and other science fiction narratives about them?
'Touch, Don't Dominate' is configured as a time and work space to think about how to produce and think artistically aesthetics of cares and affects. This module proposes to deepen the potential of the artists to create a type of 'performative mediation' that produces new venues for the encounter, spaces of suspension of time or the activation of protest. The participants will create a performance through an artistic 'experiment', in order to produce new imaginaries of Common, Desire and Revolutions that are still to come.
Deadline: 19th May 2017

10th / 14th July, 2017
The Revolution of the Gaze. Inside the Visible, to grasp the Invisible
Curated by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, with Luigi Fassi

www.cittadellarte.it/unidee/activity.html?id=88

How can the documentary practice make the contact with the reality the first step towards the creation of a communal and political act?
This module will be a survey on the documentary practice, focusing on the spaces of tension and connection between the political and the spiritual dimensions related to the artistic gesture. 'The revolution of the Gaze' will lay the groundwork for real projects of documentary films, which glance at surroundings of Cittadellarte and through which the participants will feel part of a collective creative process of the investigation of reality.
Deadline: 23rd June 2017

17th / 21st July, 2017
The Dance of Attention. What happens as soon as we press 'record' on a device
Curated by Attila Faravelli and Enrico Malatesta, with Adam Asnan

www.cittadellarte.it/unidee/activity.html?id=89

Where in our own culture (present and past) lies the urge to overly develop and refine techniques to sort fixed things out of a flux of living matter? Is it possible to turn these techniques into levers to de-stratify perception, even if they were partly born out of a desire to objectify reality?
Sound recording practices are not just a mechanism through which objectivity can or should be transmitted, they are instead a powerful creative tool. Despite the balance of the workshop tilting toward sonic practices, the topics discussed, as well as the exercises proposed, aim at facing broader questions related to the relationship between unmediated and mediated experience.
Deadline: 30rd June 2017
