Green Island 2016

A major anniversary for the most green and creative event in Milan! This year, GREEN ISLAND celebrates its 15th edition. An achievement which GREEN ISLAND 2016 will commemorate with a series of activities starting from the month of April during Milano Design Week (10-17 April) and continuing throughout the year. The new, rich programme of GREEN ISLAND 2016 sets out to bring together all the pioneering stimuli launched over these years, in order to develop initiatives of divulgation, cultural promotion and training in the field of environmental protection, of civic education and eco-sustainable development, as a cultural and educational heritage to leave to future generations. In order to raise awareness of socio-environmental themes and to enhance the necessary skills of individuals and the community as a whole, we hereby present Creating Future Landscapes, a programme which offers a wide range of instruments, in order to reflect on the many ways of implementing a creative approach to teaching about green areas and sustainability, guiding us towards the safeguarding of our territory.

> MONDAY 11 APRIL: Garibaldi Train Station Hall, Piazza Freud 1 (MM2 Pta Garibaldi)
12-1 pm: Press Conference + Opening 'ARBRE MAGIQUE/The Biodiversity Tree',
artistic installation of eco-design by Volpati/Nucara. Opening of 'Garden in the Station', green project by Atelier del Paesaggio (www.atelierdelpaesaggio.worldpress.com).
Presentation of the winner designer for 'New Urban Ecologies' competition dedicated to renew public areas of Garibaldi Train Station (www.amaze.it/AMAZE/)
BIO cocktail and botanical gadgets.

> TUESDAY 12 APRIL: Secret Garden Terraggio, via Terraggio 5 (MM2 Cadorna)
5-6 pm: Workshop for kids and family on urban biodiversity.
Special design project for the garden by Volpati/Nucara (in collaboration with 5VIE Art&Design).

> THURSDAY 14 APRIL: Spazio Lombardini22, via Lombardini 22 (MM2 Pta Genova)
7-9 pm: eco-design installation realized by the artist Simone Berti.
Cocktails and Music Party.

> SUNDAY 17 APRIL: Urban Hive Park, Orti via Padova/ via Esterle (MM2 Udine)
10-12 am: breakfast with special honey and design workshop on the field,
in collaboration with 'Woodworker Unplugged' and 'Urban Wood'.
