Extended Deadline: 14 March 2016, 11:59pm (Singapore time UTC/GMT+8hrs)

The Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF) is a biennial gathering of minds from around the world with the common pursuit to advance the art and appreciation of photography. It aims to be a much needed arena for critical thought and academic discourse on photography in Southeast Asia.

The 5th SIPF Open Call is looking to discover new photographic works and curatorial projects, open to the participation of all photographers and curators, with no thematic restrictions. Shortlisted works and projects will be exhibited at the festival across Singapore. Submissions will be selected by an independent panel of art professionals and curators.

The invited panel of curators for the Open Call Showcase are Kazuko Sekiji (Curator, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography), Seok Jae-Hyun (Independent Curator and Editor of Photo Dot Magazine, Seoul, Korea), and Ingo Taubhorn (Curator, House of Photography, Deichtorhallen Hamburg). The jury members for the inaugural edition of the Curatorial Project Showcase category are Melanie Pocock (Writer and Assistant Curator at Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore), Robert Zhao Renhui (Visual Artist, Singapore), and Gwen Lee (Artistic Director and Co-founder of Singapore International Photography Festival and DECK).

Open Call Categories:
Category 1: Open Call Showcase

In the previous edition, SIPF received 707 submissions from 70 countries. Out of these submissions, 47 selected artists from 23 countries exhibited in the Open Call Showcase 2014 across the National Museum of Singapore, DECK, and Chapel Gallery.

Category 2: Curatorial Project Showcase
The inaugural edition of the Curatorial Project Showcase seeks to provide a platform for emerging and independent curators committed to develop their professional practice in Singapore.
