From 24 to 27 September 2015, we will welcome collectors, artists, curators, gallery owners, art professionals and art lovers from all over the world to Vienna for the 1st edition of viennacontemporary!

At viennacontemporary you will find the most intriguing selection of contemporary art the region has to offer, works from over five hundred Austrian and international artists as well as highlights and discoveries from Eastern and Western Europe. Together with numerous exhibitions and exclusive events in the city's renowned contemporary art institutions, international visitors will be submerged into
Vienna´s vivid art scene.


Galleries can apply in the following categories:


-Established: for galleries founded before 2010.

-Young: for galleries founded after 2010.

-Relections: a curated section for the presentation of one to maximum three artists or an artist group. The presentation has to be liable to a curatorial concept.

-ZONE1: selection for solo presentations of a young artist or artist group. The age restriction is 40 years.

-Editions: open to galleries, institutions and publishing houses producing series and multiples of contemporary artwork.

-Base: in this category the exhibitor rents floor space only. The Base is particularly suitable for the presentation of sculptures and installations. Applicants need to submit detailed curatorial and architectural concept of the planned presentation.

-Institution: for presentations of Austrian and international museums, institutions and collections which are active in contemporary art and culture.


All applications are submitted to the viennacontemporary Admission Committee. The mission of the Admission Committee is to guarantee a high quality of galleries on the floor and high end contemporary art presented and to work towards a good balance between all categories.

'Besides a well-balanced mix of galleries from Austria and the West, as well as young and established galleries from focus regions, we will further expand our successful side programs with international speakers and collectors in the talks program, special presentations and numerous activities in the city of Vienna', outlines Christina Steinbrecher-Pfandt, artistic director of viennacontemporary.

With 'Keys to Contemporary Art', viennacontemporary aims to bring renowned representatives of the contemporary art scene to Vienna, thereby conveying to interested visitors some insights into the practices of contemporary art. In the section '20four7 – Contemporary Collecting', organized by Rainald Schumacher, major international art collectors and renowned corporate collections will present their collecting approaches and strategies. The series 'Young Collectors Talk' will present the diverse ways of collecting contemporary art.

In addition to the presentations of galleries, talks program and special projects, the art fair's particular intent is to offer a comprehensive service to Austrian and international collectors both at viennacontemporary and during their stay in Vienna.
