Exhibition on Infinity Knows No Limits at Walsh Gallery, Seton Hall University

EXHIBITION ON INFINITY KNOWS NO LIMITS

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) 'Getting to Infinity,' a group exhibition curated by Jeanne Brasile opens to the public at Seton Hall University's Walsh Gallery on Thursday, January 22nd at 5pm. The exhibition features seven regional, national and international artists exploring the topic of infinity through a variety of approaches from disciplines such as astrophysics, philosophy, mathematics and spirituality. The included artwork will also encompass a wide variety of media including drawing, installation, video and painting. Participating artists include Jessica Angel, Gianluca Bianchino, Julia Oldham, Travis LeRoy Southworth, Chad Stayrook, Katie Treidl and Eric Valosin.

Curator Jeanne Brasile explains 'Narratively, the exhibition addresses the notion of infinity -- specifically delving into the matter of how artists endeavor to visually illuminate the concept. The exhibition seeks to present a wide range of interpretations of infinity as related to space, time, quantity, metaphysics as well as other cogent interpretations of the theme.' The artists are working in an inter-disciplinary framework that engages both the artistic and scientific through research, experimentation, collaborative modes of creativity or emulation of scientific processes. The exhibition is also concerned with the question of how artists, within the confines of the white cube, can articulate something without limits. Ultimately, the exhibition is a discursive consideration of the topic and the artwork can be interpreted as visualizations of complex scientific data and/or concepts. Programming includes an interdisciplinary panel of artists, scientists and mathematicians which will be moderated by the curator.
