Thursday, July 31st, marks the second DownStreet Art Thursday of the 2014 Summer Season. There will be nine new exhibitions opening, open studios by local artists, performative happenings and community events from 6-9PM.

Washington based artist, Corwin Levi, will be creating a large-scale mural on Veteran's Memorial Bridge (Route 2 Overpass). Levi's mural 'Circumnavigate Through' will use only black, white and grey paint to create tight clusters of integrated knots to fill the entire wall on St. Anthony's Drive.

A Trolley will be running on an art loop beginning at MASS MoCA, where Independent Art Projects will have their grand opening, and stopping at galleries along Main Street, the Rudd Art Museum and Levi's and all murals in town.

New exhibitions opening around the city include:
• Photographs by Tanya Marcuse and Shuli Sade; installation, sculpture and ceramics by Lauren Fensterstock, Christopher Russell, Steven Young Lee at Independent Art Projects, 1315 MASS MoCA Way
Erika Radich and Jae Ok Lee prints, and mixed media artworks at PRESS Gallery, 49 Main Street
Julia Morgan-Leamon photo-based and video works at Gallery 51, 51 Main Street
• Book artist, Nava Atlas, will have a rotated exhibition as well as an artist talk at DIScourse Gallery, 85 Main Street
Julia Forrest and Monica Chulewicz, at CONcourse Gallery, 85 Main Street
• Group show curated by Angela McQuillan at Gallery 107, 107 Main Street
• Works by local artists and Eric Rudd at Rudd Art Museum, 82 Summer Street

Local artists, Martha Flood and William Oberst will also open their private studios to the public.

Art About Town will be hosting their Crosswalkabout Project starring at 4PM. They will be providing paint and brushes and invite one and all to participate in painting the crosswalks on Main Street.

Cultural organizations throughout the Berkshires will be represented along Main Street including MASS MoCA, KIDSPACE, the Clark, Pittsfield Office of Cultural Development and Berkshire Creative as well as local business in North Adams.

DownStreet Art is a project of MCLA's Berkshire Culture Resource Center, partnering with the City of North Adams, Develop North Adams, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and Orbit Visual Graphic Design.
