SÁMI DÁIDDAGUOVDDÁŠ move to new premises in the center of Karasjok, and it is a great pleasure to welcome you to the inauguration SATURDAY 14TH JUNE AT 18:00H

We welcome to the generous resources -a reception area with cafe and seating, shop with Sami arts and handicrafts and art literature, studio, meeting and conference rooms, recording studio, and most important of all-good and expansive new showrooms.

Top of the World, the inaugural exhibition of the new premises of the Sami Center of Contemporary Art, utilizes the particular and exceptional geographical, cultural and existential position of Karasjok and Sápmi as its point of departure. Six artists of international stature contribute new works of art, most of them created exclusively for the occasion, that cross borders, open new vistas, and generate future passions and identities.

Official inauguration will be made by Vice President Henry Olsen of the Sami Parliament and leader of the Sami Art Association, Marita Isobel Solberg. Opening Speech by Director Hjørdis Kurås. The inaugural exhibition, Top of the World, is presented by curator Jan-Erik Lundstrom, and there will be elements of performance art and music at the opening. Serving of food and drink.

Top of the world:

Monica L. Edmondson, Roger Mullin, Joar Nango, Linda Persson, Outi Pieski and Lindsay Seers.
