During its eleven years of existence, StartPoint has evolved from CZECH national exhibition of graduate artworks to an extensive project that follows young artistic talents throughout Europe. This year the team of curators evaluated 35 art schools from 16 European countries in order to select the most interesting graduation projects, which are presented at the exhibition, on the website and in the catalogue. On the day of the final exhibition's opening in Prague, the international jury awarded the main prize and several honorary mentions.

Apart from the introduction of young emerging artists, the project aims to create a platform for encounters between up-and-coming artists and experts across countries, traditions and genres. This convergence is also being facilitated by a residency programme for the award-winning finalists named STARTED, and a constantly growing number of European repeat showings. After the successful premiere at DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague and its first digest at KASK Ghent, we are pleased to show another selections in Amsterdam, Bratislava and Bucuresti.

At the end of May 2014 will five awarded artists of previous year arrive for one-month residency to Prague, culminating with their group show at Czech Centres Gallery. These are: Matea Bakula (HKU Utrecht), Charlotte Dualé (KH Weissensee Berlin), Karen Kramer (Goldsmiths London), Jaakko Pallasvuo (KUVA Helsinki), Abigail Sidebotham (RCA London).

STARTPOINT has been supported by the European union programme Culture and by the grant programme of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
