The Engaged Artist Award is given to newly admitted Goddard students who will pursue a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the arts and who are already engaged in their communities or professions as activist artists. Awards range from $1,000-$2,000 depending on the availability of funds. Visit goddard.edu/artistgrant.
At Goddard, we believe education is emancipatory. It is intended to help you understand cultural and other biases in your worldview and to facilitate your ability to participate in meaningful social change based on 'an earnest concern for others and the welfare of the earth.'
Goddard students are asked to take intentional action to affect the world outside of themselves, either collaboratively or individually. John Dewey, among many, argued that education must include experience. Others since have referred to 'praxis,' that is, putting theory into practice.
