ARTISTIC PRACTICE : INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO PHOTOGRAPHY


Regular tenure-track position of professor in visual and media arts for an artist who has an internationally recognized interdisciplinary practice in photography.

Salary and rank commensurate with experience.

The candidate will have an excellent knowledge of the theoretical, historical, technical, social and critical issues associated with the development and use of photography in contemporary art. The candidate will have mastered photography's analogical and digital technologies. The candidate's practice must exhibit a vision of photography that is in dialogue with other visual and media art forms. A versatility in the candidate's practice and teaching will be considered to be a major asset. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at introductory levels in relation to photography's fundamentals. The candidate should demonstrate a capacity to develop relationships with the other disciplines that are taught in the École des arts visuels et médiatiques.

The candidate's application must provide evidence of:

o artistic production and professional activities in the field of contemporary art;
o college or university teaching experience, or a pertinent equivalent of that experience;
o a capactiy to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and to participate in activities that promote the university's visibility as well as an ability to develop new programs or orientations;
o a capacity to direct students at the Masters and PhD levels.
o a capacity for team work;
o a capacity to assume administrative duties and program direction;
o a capacity to develop research projects.


Academic prerequisites:

A masters degree in the discipline or related discipline, a minimum of four years pertinent professional experience and a competence that is recognized in the art field, in the discipline or a related discipline.
