The aim of Tate is to increase public awareness, understanding and enjoyment of British art from the 16th century to the present day, and of international modern and contemporary art.

Tate Britain is recruiting for the position of Curator of Contemporary British Art. This position is responsible for contributing to the programme of displays of the Collection and exhibitions, and to the development of the Collection by means of acquisitions and research of British art from circa 1980 onwards.

The successful candidate will possess a high level of specialist expertise in contemporary British art, have significant relevant experience in an art gallery, museum, collection or similar, and a strong record of publication on relevant topics.

Candidates with a more academic background, and a PhD are also invited to apply.

Besides having a track record of devising and delivering exhibitions with imagination and distinction, the successful candidate will possess the ability to manage a team and to work with others to achieve results.

This is a position that requires commitment to and awareness of issues of equality and cultural diversity as they affect the work of a major museum.
