Artists submit your work by July 4th for the opportunity to have your work reviewed by Meg Malloy from NY's Sikkema Jenkins & Co.
Meg Malloy is a partner at Sikkema Jenkins & Co in New York's Chelsea district. She has extensive print and multiple experience and has overseen editions with Kara Walker, Arturo Herrera and Vik Muniz. Prior to joining Sikkema Jenkins & Co., Meg was the NY director for Munich-based Editions Schellmann. She joined founder, Brent Sikkema, and senior partner, Michael Jenkins, at the gallery in 2002. Founded by Brent Sikkema in 1991 Sikkema Jenkins & Co was originally called Wooster Gardens, located in Soho, before moving to Chelsea in 1999.
The gallery shows a leading edge group of first tier artists both established and emerging. From the photographic marvels of Vik Muniz to the societally skewering delights of Kara Walker's silhouettes to the spiritual calm of Shahzia Sikander's pan-cultural works, the gallery consistently delivers top-notch art that inspires and engages.
From the gallery website: 'Sikkema Jenkins & Co. exhibits works of art in a wide variety of media including painting, drawing, installation, photography, video, and sculpture. The gallery's program includes important established artists such as Arturo Herrera, Vik Muniz,Shahzia Sikander, Amy Sillman, and Kara Walker. In addition, the gallery seeks to support the careers of emerging talent such as Josephine Halvorson, Marc Handelman, and Elizabeth Neel.'
ABOUT ARTVETTING.COM
Artvetting.com is introducing a new concept to the art world. An online forum where artists can access some of the critical market makers and taste makers who appreciate and understand the subtle workings that comprise the business of the art world. Each month we invite artists to register ($20 fee to cover costs) and upload five samples of their work plus a CV and 250 word artist statement. From these submissions we curate a group of ten artists who will be vetted by an art world professional.
• Round One was vetted by Hudson, owner of Feature Inc., on Manhattan's Lower East Side
• Round Two was vetted by Isaac Lyles from Derek Eller Gallery.
• Round Three had vetting from Brian Clamp, gallerist and owner of Clampart in New York City
• Round Four was vetted by Susan Inglett, gallerist, print publisher and art fair founder
• Round Five was vetted by Adrianne Rubenstein, gallery director at James Fuentes Gallery in NYC
• Round Six was vetted by Photi Giovanis owner of Callicoon Fine Arts in NYC
Artvetting.com, founded by Lis Ivers (formerly director at Marianne Boesky Gallery, Matthew Marks Gallery and others) and Dan Peyton, photographer and collector, aims to reach out to artists at all levels in order to provide information about how their work is seen by the decision makers who can guide and nurture artistic talent. A resource for artists, collectors and curators, Artvetting.com will archive each group of work and over time create a critical mass of reviewed contemporary art.
