In the audiovisual media, Region 0 is an informal term for 'worldwide.' Region 0 - The Latino Video Art Festival of New York embraces the idea of audiovisual works transcending international barriers.
The festival's second edition will showcase the work of 86 video artists from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America as well as Latinos living in New York. A total 574 creative artists from US, Latin America, Portugal and Spain presented their works, with a final countdown of about 1,000 pieces.
Region 0 showcases current trends in the field of video art, highlighting the distinct conceptual and technical approaches of the participating creators. In this sense, the festival takes the pulse of creation, which uses strategies such as deconstruction, recycling, contextualization, abstraction and irony to radiograph a present that extends from the personal to the social, economic, historical, technological, etc. exploring both the obvious an the extraordinary, rediscovering an imperfect world in which fragments of everyday life are intertwined with historical events and advertising and where literary quotes are sung to the rhythm of rock.
Space, time and memory take a unique shape, understandable in this context where the creators give us their audiovisual potions, original and cathartic, that deviate from the protocol and immerse in the mundane, studying it, stirring it, tapping it, shaking it and ultimately, transforming it.

Three special mentions will be awarded by a jury composed of two internationally recognized professionals in the art world: Chus Martínez, Chief Curator, El Museo del Barrio, and Octavio Zaya, writer, curator, and editor, Curator of the Spanish Pavillion at the 55th Venice Biennale 2013.
The final awards will be announced on May 18th during the closing ceremony of the festival.
Closing party with music by DJ and artist Silvia Prada.
