Li Jin: A New Limited Edition Print Published by Dubner Moderne

Dubner Moderne is pleased to announce the publication of 'No Fish in a Clear Pond', 2012, the first limited edition print by renowned Chinese ink painter Li Jin.

'No Fish in a Clear Pond' is a five color, four plate, aquatint with spitbite on Hahnemulle copperplate paper.

With lines and brushstrokes that are as delicate as those in his original ink works, 'No Fish in a Clear Pond' marks the first time that Li Jin has translated his mastery of traditional ink painting onto printer's plates. Working with master printer Gregory Burnet, the print captures Li's appreciation of detail and his perception of beauty in the everyday that surrounds us. In this print Li Jin engages us in a thoughtful and profound exploration of the Confucian proverb, 'Water that is clear has no fish,' without sacrificing the gentle humor and bon vivant's appreciation of the simple pleasures of life for which he is justly famous.

As a master of Chinese ink painting, Li Jin has received worldwide praise as an important contemporary artist whose work preserves tradition whilst defining present and future art scenes. He has exhibited throughout Europe, Asia and the USA in museum and gallery exhibitions. Most notably, in 2010 his work was an integral part of 'Fresh Ink: Ten takes on Chinese Tradition' curated by Hao Sheng at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. In 2012 his work was exhibited at the Kunsthaus Hamburg and in December 2012 a solo show of his work is taking place at the Today Museum in Beijing.
