A weekend of creative thought and activity about D.I.Y. cultures, collective action and can-do mindsets with A Night of Good Attitude.
During a period of austerity, cuts and the reformulation of social, educational and arts infrastructures, New Work Network is convening a weekend mini festival, taking the temperature of DIY culture and can-do attitudes – past, present and future.
Meet influential peace-makers, queer protesters, climate changers, up-cyclers, craftivists, artists, engineers, community orchard planters, independent publishers, pop-up retailers, bee-keepers, instrument makers, trend-setters, creative collectives, localists and innovative social entrepreneurs.
An unFair of Benevolence bringing together 15 of the most inspiring independent artist start-ups and social enterprises that trade not only wares but also awareness revealing new applications of creativity to cultural, social and environmental issues.
A Rally of Speakers who have flown the flags for art, peace, protest and resistance from the 60s till now will revisit their radical thoughts and influential actions, now with the benefit of hindsight.
A Short Circuit of Cinema is a pedal powered cinema where getting on your bike means enlightening the screen with historic documentaries of sit-ins and strikes and current underground films made through crowd-funding and social networking.
An Assembly of Opinions is two events:
• an introductory session on Dialogue by the late, radical and influential physicist David Bohm.
• a panel discussion on Can-Do from DIY to Social Entrepreneurship.
A Fistful of Demonstrations will be a series of 'How-To' presentations by people who have made change their business.
A Night of Good Attitude is an evening of entertainment including:
• Who Wants to Be? - the revolutionary ask-the-audience game-show, by The People Speak where the crowd sets the rules and has to reach consensus on how the prize money will be spent.
• Cult collective Cut A Shine will follow by leading a rip-roaring, thigh-slapping and blood pumping barn-dance show of mayhem.
