This unique and ambitious neon sculpture course sees Matt Dilling (New York) and Shawna Peterson (Los Angeles) fly in to teach their own styles of neon making, along side Julia Bickerstaff and artist Richard William Wheater. During the workshop evenings, invited scientists and astronomers will offer presentations relating to neon, electricity and their relationship with our Universe. Please contact Neon Workshops for more information on this and our other neon courses.

Neon Workshops was set up in 2008 with an aim to expose, explore and teach neon as a method of expression and cultural production, as well as hoping to challenge common expectations of the material. Ideally located between Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Henry Moore Institute and the newly opened Hepworth Wakefield, Neon Workshops is the only arts organisation in Europe and Scandinavia to offer such a facility and neon education programme to the general public.

Offering access to a high spec neon facility, award winning neon makers and artists from all over the world are regularly invited to teach and exhibit their work. With Mobile Neon Workshops planned in Berlin for August and a number of other neon courses, and exhibitions scheduled, 2011 marks Neon Workshops busiest year to date, as it builds momentum for 2012; the 100th year anniversary of neon. Neon Workshops continues to help revive neon both inside and outside of the gallery environment; considering it a relevant material to illuminate the 21st century.
