La Prise de la Parole
Scriptings # 13

The project 'La Prise de la Parole' is concerned with the subject and its speech or movements in a public and political space. It refers to the small scale and biographically meaningful political voice of the subject and to the collective production of a political discourse from such voices.

Practising La Prise de la Parole
Workshop, first two weeks in June at Ker Thiossane

A collaborative scripting workshop, producing the script and recording for the radio piece 'Practising La Prise de la Parole'. Writing from personal memory the group of invited artists and filmmakers puts together a collective script. They use performance and rehearsal techniques to try out variations and collective interpretations, thus using speaking up as a constitutive moment for the writing process. What is the potential of these subjective voices to react to and structure their collective and therefore the political space?
with artists and filmmakers: Moustapha Seck, Abdoul Aziz Cissé, Kerstin Meyer, Achim Lengerer, Arfang Sarr-Crao.

Debate for broadcast
Public debate on invitation of artist and economist Kerstin Meyer
Monday, June 14th at 6.30 p.m., at Ker Thiossane.

A live debate about the prospective holding of the World Social Forum 2011 with social and cultural activists in Dakar. 'Debate for broadcast' will be staged together with the script and the audio piece 'Practising la Prise de la Parole' on Mané FM radio station, Voix de la femme, Dakar.

The World Social Forum is a non-governmental political platform on a global scale. Like its forerunners, the 11th edition that will be held in Dakar in 2011 has to address the challenge of producing a political discourse of sufficient relatedness from a multitude of diverse voices and positions. The format of a forum gives frame and support, but organisers and participants are the principal contributors to this social architecture.
Taoufik Ben Abdallah, African Social Forum, and Mamadou Mignane Diouf, Social Forum Senegal, will inform on the World Social Forum 2011 and its preparatory process. Contribution by Saly Wade on her personal experience as a spokesperson at an international summit. Claus-Dieter König, Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, will address the question of political movement in an NGO landscape.

La Prise de la Parole, 2010/11
by Kerstin Meyer and Achim Lengerer.
