A creative director is sought to put the city of Leicester on the digital media, film and arts map!

Leicester Arts Centre will be opening Phoenix Square in the autumn - it is a new £21M capital investment project in Leicester's Cultural Quarter, and follows from the opening of Curve theatre and Leicester Creative Depot for creative businesses.

Phoenix Square is a new state of the art Digital Media Centre. Leicester Arts Centre Limited, which previously operated Phoenix Arts, will be the end user of this exciting facility in partnership with De Montfort University. The facility includes a multi-screen arts cinema, digital screen lounge, a digital media showcase 'The DMU Cube', a video studio and fully fitted audio, edit and graphic suites. It opens to the public in November 2009.

The creative director, a part-time post (circa £45,000) will provide the creative vision for Phoenix Square (Film and Digital Media). S/he will drive innovation and new developments in the centre. S/he will oversee the programming and commissioning of all creative content. This will be done in order to achieve national and international recognition of Phoenix Square and help embed it in the local community. The creative director will be seen as the public face of Phoenix Square.

The creative director role will work with the film programmer, digital programmers and De Montfort University's research fellow to provide the creative vision for the organization, drive innovation and new developments in the centre and oversee the programming and commissioning of all creative content.

The ideal candidate will have held a senior role in an arts, creative industries or further/higher education organisation; and will have proven creative experience. S/he will have commercial acumen and the ability to cultivate an environment in which creativity can flourish.
