VERBERGEN Eine Untersuchung zu Wasser und zu Land
(Rauf Rüber Runter Untendruch #2)

Along with the topographical uprisings within the landscape, the rise and tumble of the stock prices, the diagrams of purchase and disposition as well as political summit conferences agitate people's minds. Meanwhile mountain climbing just for ascending's sake like in Petrarca's times only seems to be magical and beneficial for a limited group of persons. However, for most people the silent contemplation of the mountains from afar is associated with aspirations: Thereof is written and told thousendfold, some of it claimed, some of it evidenced. Wherever the mountains are located, in the lowlands, the Alps, in our heads or our desktops, they always demand overcoming, penetration or our ability to move them. They are dreaded but at the same time we lust after the next, high summit to get a clear visibility from a bird's eye view. Whatever doesn't submit to this craving is declared numinous or avoided dolefully.

The second part of the exhibition series „Rauf Rüber Runter Untendurch' focuses on the hiding, the burrowing. Hiding as not-showing, concealing, dissimulating as well as the ephemeral, volatile, intangible and the unexplored mysterious. The misaligned view, meaning the disguised and the blocked view at the same time is the most crucial part in the exhibition. The curiosity to discover what one isn't supposed to see and to disenchant what bedazzles us is our subject for reasoning, even if we don't provide any answers.

»Rauf Rüber Runter Untendurch« is a curatorial series and explores in numerous group exhibitions, solo shows, interventions in the public space and in interviews the geographical proportionalities, cultural fictions and theoretical approaches concerning the subject mountain as individual and social reality.
